After a successful graduation from Glasgow school of Art in 1992 Saville was already off to a good start. Not only were all of her paintings sold instantly but also upon return to the school for post-graduate work she was faced with an eighteen-month contract from Saatchi. This supported her to create new work that went on to be displayed in the Saatchi Gallery in London.

She was inspired by a long standing interest in “feminist theory” and obviously a lot of dedication and love for her work. Her oil paintings are of large nude women and show a definite association with a male dominated art history.
In her earlier work she merged literacy and image to form an oil painting entitled “Propped.” 1992
In 1994 Saville produces her fame giving self-portrait at “Young British Artists III” and is accepted in to the adult art world. This picture was said to be “one of the signature images of the show” famous for the contour lines which hold the shape of her body and are seen to be map for desired cosmetic surgery.
Her preference to work from photographs is revealed in 1995 when as a break from her main work she brings forth, with the help of photographer Glen Luchford, a small photographic series of nude women pressed onto plexiglass.
