If you wish to become an officer of the law you will need to fill in a police application form, the way in which this will differ from other jobs you apply for is that they will need many details from you, so that your application can be processed to enable them to decide if you are suitable to begin training.
You can ask for the application form to be sent to you by phoning up your local station or you may find advertisements online also. You also have the option in some Countries and States to be able to apply for the job of a police officer online, which means that you can get your application in much quicker as long as you have all the information at hand you will need.
You will have to give the usual information, of course of when and where you were born as well as your name and any names that you may have been known by in the past, in some circumstances you may be asked for your fingerprints although most of the time this is not necessary.
It is just one extra protocol in some areas. If this is the case hen you will have to pay for your fingerprints to be taken by someone who has the right qualifications to do so as stated by the law. As this is not something you will be permitted to do yourself as means of identification.
If you have had any criminal convictions previously then you should be honest about it, no matter how long ago it was as if it is found that you have not included any run ins you have had with the police previously on your application form this may be seen as dishonesty and your application will be rejected.
You will also need to include proof of your identity and if needed proof of your citizenship by means of a valid passport or drivers licence, this will show that you are willing and open to share any information that is asked of you.
Once your application has been returned you will have to wait until you have been accepted if this is the case, and once you have then you will have to take a series of tests in the next stage which will mean you will be able to start once you have completed training, although this is not the end, this is only the beginning as being an officer includes lots of training and you will be able to forward yourself throughout your career.
