Police Officers Are Needed Now

When was the last time you felt safe walking the streets at night? Even in broad daylight, today crimes are committed. Criminals do not choose a certain place or time to commit crime. They do not choose who they will commit crime against. It can be your little brother, sister, your mum, your wife or husband and it can be your child who will be the next targets of criminals. It can also be you. Crimes are escalating to such a degree that there was a need to promote police recruitment to all people who are interested in making the world a safe place once again.

Generally, people do not want crimes and campaign against it but not everyone can face a criminal in an arm to arm combat. Holding a gun requires certain measures in order to ensure that it will be used responsibly. You should not take this to mean however, being a police officer is all about guns. This is just to say that most criminals are armed and dangerous and police officers undergo special training in order to combat them. Civilians are not encouraged to attempt to challenge an armed criminal. Of course, not everyone can become a police officer but if you can be one then you are urged to join the force.

Police officers are tasked to deal with anti-social behavior, reduce street-related crimes including robbery, fight against organized crimes, counter terrorism, assist victims and give the community a general sense of security. These challenging duties are the things you will face if you decide to be a police officer. As exciting as all these sounds, it is so much more than these because the job should be more about maintaining peace and order.

Height does not matter if you want to become a police officer. Formal education is also not a requirement. If you feel like foregoing University education at 18 and joining the police force, you can do so. Your skills and background will be treated as potentially useful by the force as they are in constant search of police officers with a wide variety of skills. If your career is not providing you the satisfaction that you want at the age of 40, you can also join the force. As long as you are willing to serve and protect, the police recruitment staff will welcome your application.

Applying to become a police officer is in stages. After you fill up the police application form, you will be called for an assessment in a center where you will go through physical and mental tests. This assessment is estimated to last four to five hours and is standardized in 43 forces in England and Wales so that so you will go through the same tests regardless of what force you are applying to. If you pass the assessment, you will then be asked to give your medical history as guided by a questionnaire.

After everything, you will be sent a "candidate feedback" where the results of your tests will be detailed. You will be a police officer if you passed everything. The tests can be grueling but tips are posted online.
