Tentative schedule (i) Notification of Examination - February/March. (ii) Conduct of Examination - July. Age limit 21-30 years on July 1 of the year of examination. Certain categories of persons as specified in the notice are eligible for age relaxation. Educational qualification A Bachelor's degree with at least one of the subjects being Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering from a recognised university or equivalent degree. Candidates appearing for their degree examination (with prescribed subjects) are also eligible to compete. Candidates qualifying on the basis of result of the written part of the examination will be required to submit proof of passing the requisite examination along with their detailed application form to be filled up at that stage. Scheme of examination Written Examination - Conventional essay type. Paper I - General English (300 marks). Paper II - General Knowledge (300 marks). Paper III, IV, V & VI - Any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects set out below. Each subject will have two papers (200 marks for each paper). Total marks for written examination - 1400 marks. List of optional subjects: Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandary (V.Sc.&AH), Botany, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Forestry, Geology, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Statistics and Zoology. Provided that the candidates will not be allowed to offer the following combination of subjects: (a) Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering. (b) Agriculture and V.Sc. & AH (c) Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. (d) Mathematics and Statistics. (e) Of the Engineering subjects viz. Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering - not more than one subject. Interview for Personality Test (300 marks). Payscale of IFS Officers Following the Fifth Central Pay Commission, a pay-parity was effected between the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service. The payscales of IFS officers are as follows: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests: Rs. 24,050-26,000. Additional Principal Chief Conservator: Rs. 22,400-24,500. Chief Conservator of Forests: Rs. 18,400-22,400. Conservator of Forests: Rs. 16,400-20,000. Deputy Conservator of Forests - Selection Grade: Rs. 14,300-18,300; Junior Administrative Grade: Rs. 12,000-16,500; Senior Time Scale: Rs. 10,000-15,200; Junior Time Scale: Rs. 8,000-12,000. |
