UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) is a central government agency of India that conducts the process of recruitment of Group "A" and "B" posts. It includes Civil Services (IAS, IPS), Engineering Services, CDS, NDA, and Naval Academy. UPSC was known as Federal Public Service Commission before independence.
At present UPSC commission is made up of a Chairman and 10 members. President of India select the candidates for these posts. UPSC not only handles the recruitment process but also give suggestion to the central government about other selection processes and promotion.

Most famous exam conducted by UPSC is Civil Services Examination. Every year lakhs of candidates appear in its preliminary exam, with the ambition of becoming IAS/IPS officer.
